My First Award-Winning Film

Every spring, Citytv marketing poobah, Steve Scarrow, puts on his own film festival.  The Scarrow Film Fest is an event in Richmond where Steve’s friends, colleagues, and family gather to screen home-made movies that have never been shown elsewhere or produced for anyone else.  The night is split into two halves - the first half is family friendly and the second half… um, not so much.  The movies run the gamut from super-cute kid-filled home movies to unspeakably off-colour comedies - they’re all highly entertaining.  This year, I made a movie with Jordan Kawchuk called ‘The Professionals - Masters of Video.’  It was an awesome chance to use every bad TV technique we’ve ever seen in under four minutes.
Have a look and let me know what you think - it won Best Film and Best Director honours last night.  Woot!

Still Feeling The Hate, But…

…I am compelled to try and convince others of the genius in Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job! (especially my idiot brother, Brian, who has a sense of humour, but loathes these two guys).  Two ONE more favourites here - reviews are welcome unless they are from Brian.

One Less Thing To Worry About

Don’t have to exercise the dog ourselves anymore because today Dawson learned to throw balls for Sandy at the beach…

(how has he learned to do this, but he hasn’t learned to eat solid food yet?
what’s wrong with this kid?)

My Flying Dog Obsession Continues…

A while back, I thought maybe I’d rent an art gallery and mount a Playmobil art installation.  Now, though, I’m sure I want to rent an art gallery and mount an exhibition of photos of flying dogs.  As bizarre as this may seem, I recently found out that I’m not alone - I was invited to join a Flickr group exclusively for pics of… flying dogs.  Check out the group here - it’s pretty funny.  This is my latest addition…

The Little Girl That Died

Children are warped.  Cedar’s friend from Calgary, Sage, is staying with us this weekend  and they get along great.

However, I just came downstairs to find Cedar lying on the living room floor with her eyes closed.  I asked if Cedar was sleeping and she popped up and said, “No, we’re playing a game called ‘The Little Girl That Died’.”

Then Cedar and Sage got into an argument about who would have to be the little girl that died next.

Cedar: “I don’t want to be the girl that dies anymore.”
Sage: “Well I don’t want to die either.”
Cedar: “How about you die?”
Sage: “But I don’t want to die.”
Cedar: “How about we both die, okay?  You die first and then I’ll die.  You fall off the scooter and die in the kitchen.”
Sage: “Okay.”

I’m now the Big Father That Drinks During the Day.
